Pain Medicine Center
The Pain Medicine Center is Centennial Rehabilitation Associates’ outpatient, multidisciplinary program for treatment of Chronic Pain. It is based on the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation Medical Treatment Guidelines for Chronic Pain Disorders, which promotes interdisciplinary rehabilitation programs as “the gold standard for treatment for individuals with chronic pain who have not responded to less intensive modes of treatment”. It also provides an alternative to exclusively interventional or pharmacological model approaches whose treatment goals are primarily symptom relief. The Pain Medicine Center’s goal for patients is the resumption of a functional life.
Our treatment philosophy at The Pain Medicine Center is grounded in the understanding that pain perception is dependent on a variety of medical, psychological and societal factors. Our approach to treating pain therefore is necessarily a multidisciplinary one, utilizing a range of specialists to diagnose and treat the “drivers” of pain for each particular patient. Based on our assessment, and dependent on the case, treatment can incorporate a wide range of interventions, and can include pharmacological therapy, behavioral re-education, psychotherapy, biofeedback, exercise, patient and family education, injections or other interventions as indicated.

Our message to patients at The Pain Medicine Center is not that our treatment will render them totally pain free, but that they will be able, through treatment in our program, to learn to cope with their pain sufficiently to resume a productive life.
